The Mo’Nique Show has become a staple in late night television, but for whatever reason BET has decided to cancel the program, citing its a “production hiatus” (whatever that means). The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Rodney Ho said,
At about 1:30 p.m., I called Rodney Perry, who was Mo’Nique’s sidekick on the show. He said he was running into a meeting and didn’t answer my question. While I was at lunch over at the mall court, at 1:40 p.m. EST, he texted me: “I was told indefinite hiatus.”
That’s a euphemism for canceled.
The talk show, which Mo’Nique compared to a high-energy nightly party, lasted two seasons and had been taped in Turner Studios down in Atlanta. New shows will air until the fall then it’s over for good. The show cancellation doesn’t seem to have anything to do with ratings, as it was being viewed by the masses. However, it is being said that there were conflicts between Mo’Nique and executives in the BET branch.
It’s sad to see Mo go, but nothing last forever. She had a good run and hopefully she’ll land on her feet in no time! Another notch in her belt and another high ticket item on her resume. Much love Mo’Nique and I wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors. I’m sure we’ll all see you soon doing your next gig!!!
