Cipher Sounds Suspended From Hot 97 For Racist Comment Towards Haitians
The Haitian community is in an uproar because of Luis “Cipher Sounds” Diaz racial remark towards Haiti women last week on Hot 97, one of New York’s most popular hip hop stations. K. Fox one of the co-host on Hot 97 says “They’re trying to stop the spread of AIDS in Haiti”, and Cipha jokingly injects,
I don’t mess with Haitian girls so I’m fine.
For a community that has been through so much turmoil in the past year it is looked upon as an insensitive and outlandish remark. This one line statement may have cost Cipher Sounds his job. As of yet he has not been fired, but I’m sure it will come down to how well the people receive his apology. Currently he has been suspended indefinitely and must immediately take sensitive training courses, so who knows when or if he’ll be back!
Charlamagne the god from Power 105.1 is using the opportunity to steal Hot 97 listeners by blasting Cipher on air,
