Shante “Curren$y” Franklin and Damon “Dame“ Dash once shared a bromance, but must have recently had a fallen out, because Spitta is now suing the ex Roc-A-Fella co-owner. Reportedly, Dame is releasing Curren$y music without permission or compensation and therefore Currensy filed a $1.5 Million lawsuit against Dame Dash.
This comes as a shock, because the two had a cool relationship from what I thought. However, it seems Dame tried to take advantage of that friendship and score on royalties he owes Curren$y.
Back in 2010 the two began negotiating an agreement to release music together, however that deal never happened, but Dame still released the music. The lawsuit states that two of Spitta’s albums Pilot Talk and Pilot Talk II were released by Dash even though Curren$y landed a deal with Warner Bros. during the time who had exclusive rights to his music.
Dame has responded to the allegations saying he had explicit right to release the music because he was given permission. Dame stated that Curren$y stabbed him in the back by reneging on their deal and instead signed with Warner Bros.
A judge will need to hash this out. A court hearing has yet to be scheduled, but it will go before a judge to rule on the case.
