RCA Music Group, one of the music industry’s giants has announced that it will be shutting down three of its subsidiaries Jive, Arista, and J Records. This is shocking news, because at least Jive and Arista has been around since the 70’s and its hard to see them go!

RCA reasoning is that it is trying to downsize in then slumped economy and therefore bring back more esteem to their parent brand RCA. All artists who are under one of the subsidiaries will be moved over to the RCA brand, this includes: Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, R. Kelly, Miguel, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Pink, T-Pain, Dido, Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston, Pitbull and others.

RCA said this in a statement to the press,

In an effort to refresh RCA Records, all label imprints — J Records, Arista Records and Jive — will now be under the the iconic RCA Records label,”
